2026 Paint Nite Fundraiser
Paint Nite 2026
I am an artist and art teacher so a paint nite was a natural idea for a recurring fundraiser.
What we did not expect this year was that there would be a last minute complication with our event space!
Local volunteer extraordinaire (And life saving swim teacher to my autistic son IYKYK) Jayme Hofteig opened up her home LAST minute!
I was in awe. I honestly didn’t believe she could do it. But Jayme squeezed all of us into her home and we had a wonderful time. This year the instruction was led by Art Wagon and the theme was a butterfly. Fitting for the kind of transformation that you go through when you have your year of breast cancer treatment.
And the details were good. Backyard Breasties is never going to be a beige tote bag and a dry granola bar situation if I can help it. If we are going to gather, it should feel like somebody thought about it. I think I was running from somewhere else with yellow folding chairs that I had just gotten from an estate sale. Still running around like a chicken with my head cut off and not really sure of all the details for the night. But we pulled it together.
A way that says we wanted you here before you arrived. One of our partners from the beginning Flour and Flourish did the charcuterie spread. Her work is absolutely scrumptious and the idea that she could make it so easy for everyone with such short notice is nothing short of magical.
I can’t wait until our paint night this fall. I hear I might be teaching it.
If you want to help us create more spaces like this for women going through breast cancer, we would love your support. Backyard Breasties is building care that is practical, honest, and rooted in real life, including the parts that still need laughter, beauty, and a night out. Also… maybe you can host it in your home or garden?
